Brow Colour

Brows are one of the most neglected step of makeup routines.
but absolutely necessary to complete your look. An essential part of natural looking brows lies in the colour of your eyebrow pencil.

as a general guide line:

- dark hair (black/brown)
pick a colour 2 shades lighter than your hair

- light hair (blonde)
pick a colour 2 shades darker than your hair

note: for most of us asian girls, if you ve got black hair and cant find grey/soft black, pick the darkest brown you find! T///

Nail care after the polish.

repeated usage of nail polish can cause dry/brittle and yellowish looking nails.
so heres a quick LEMONISH tip for more nail-glamour-years to come!

after using your nail polish remover, washed your hands, complete routine with the following before sleep:

1) rub lemon slices or freshly squeezed lemon juice on nails. leave it to dry for 5mins.
2) rinse with water
3) apply and rub in moisturiser on dry nails. leave overnight.

the lemon juice acts as a "bleach" to remove the yellowish stains and the moisturiser helps soften your cuticles + moisturise your nails. T///

Wash the unwashable

QUICK TIP (especially for the men with hair that fights gravity)

Using hair conditioner FIRST can help remove stubborn hair products.

follow with shampoo to wash away dirt, then conditioner again to replace nutrients that were washed away by the shampoo. T///

Keeping in line

We swear by our eyeliners. Liquid ones.
Love the pencils, but we find ourselves accumulating a drawer of smudge proof liners that DOES NOT even work.
Before you blame it on your malfunctioning lids, heres a tip.

1) apply liner (pencil/gel/liquid, whichever)
2) SET liner by patting powder on it (same colour or translucent)
3) BORDER up the waterline, below the liner by sweeping translucent powder in the dotted area shown in diagram. it acts as a wall that prevents the liner from spreading downwards:

usually liners smudge due to oily lids, and the powder helps absorb oil, acting as a barrier. T///

Scrub them blackheads

out of face scrub? instead of burning your pocket (again), try some baking powder from the kitchen.

and we ve got a huge acne community supporting it.
some use it as a daily cleanser, or a face mask. but we found both a little drying for the skin. so lets just stick with scrubbing.

pros:
gentle exfoliator, oil control (if you have dry skin, stop reading.), minimises pores, reduces blackheads. CHEAP.

1) pour 2 tbs baking powder in palm
2) add water bit by bit, mix till you get a paste (or a desired consistency)
3) gently exfoliate as per normal
4) rinse
5) apply toner + moisturiser

repeat twice a week.

warning:
first time? test in small amounts first, some have shown a bad reaction to it.
watch for 100% or pure on the box.

oh. and add a dash on your toothpaste while brushing. we heard it brightens your teeth too. T///

Shaping the Face

contouring = brightening highlights + darkening shadows
also known as emphasizing on certain features, and hiding the extras.

everyone has a different face shape, and would differ slightly. so this is just our version of a simple contouring-made-easy.

Need:
- contouring brush
- light colour powder (usually 2 shades brighter than your foundation)
- dark colour powder (usually 2 shades darker than your foundation. try VERY HARD to avoid shimmer. you re trying to direct light away, not attract more light. esp when taking photos with flash.)

(A) highlight
using your lighter colour, gently brush powder in a 'C' shape, from brow bone to upper cheek bone.

(B) shadow
using the darker colour, gently brush powder in a '3' shape, from the temple down along the bottom of cheek bone, then along the jawline halfway towards the chin.
blend powder along bottom of cheek bone and jawline upwards (refer to arrows in diagram)
(make sure to blend the sides into the hairline!)
do not apply too much, or it will look like patches of dirt :(

(C) blush
apply blush on apples of cheek and blend in direction as shown in diagram to form a tear shape.

the highlights would help brighten the eye area, enhancing your eye makeup, and create the illusion of higher cheekbones + the shadows on the side would slim down your face.

keep experimenting (or watch youtube vids.), and you ll find whats best for your face shape! T///

Hiding your lips under the sheets?

Why dry lips are fugly.
#1 chewing on your lip skin and swallowing it is gross
#2 lipstick clings onto flakey parts of the lip
#3 lip may bleed when you pull off the flakey parts, or smile
#4 dry lips just get drier and older looking every other day

If your chapsticks doesnt seem to be working, scrubbing your lips remove the dead skin and help your lip better retain moisture.
and heres some good news, theres NO NEED to buy lipscrubs (think chemicals. what if we accidentally swallowed it?!?!?!?)

lippy scrub DIYed:
1) in your palm, add 1tsp olive oil, 1.5tsp sugar
2) carefully mix it with your finger to get a paste
3) spread the paste on your lip
4) gently massage the scrub on your lip in a circular motion
5) rinse

olive oil can be replaced with honey if you need your sugar fix (just lick it when you re done)
its just a tad bit messier. T///
